In 2017, the Laguna Beach County Water District (LBCWD) installed an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system (known as a SMART Meter) within the Emerald Bay Community. This system consists of state-of-the-art technology that wirelessly communicates consumption usage data to the LBCWD. The meters are able to collect multiple remote water meter reads every day, allowing for better leak detection and improved customer service.
LBCWD has launched a customer web portal that will allow customers to access your own detailed water usage information. To set up an account, pay a bill, and view your water history and details, please log in at the Laguna Beach County Water District Payment Portal..
HOW TO LOCATE YOUR WATER METER
Your water meter is usually located by the curb in front of your property and is housed in a concrete box marked “WATER”. Please see the picture below.
When landscaping your yard, please maintain enough distance from the water meter box to allow the water district crews to service or repair the meter. It is the property owner’s responsibility to ensure that all water meter boxes are visible and accessible at all times.
WATER SMART METER – FLOW FINDER
As water flows through the water meter, the meter will show a “plus” symbol that will appear below the meter read numbers. If all the water on the property is turned off and the symbol remains, there may be a leak. A picture of the water meter is shown below.
If you believe that you have a leak, please call the Service District at 949-494-8572 or Laguna Beach County Water District at 949-494-1041
